We first met Michelle when she came to the farm to make a bowl with Kate on Escape to the Farm. We are delighted that she has joined the teaching team to share her green woodworking and basket making skills.
Michelle’s passion for craft began in 2013 when she was introduced to green woodworking whilst volunteering with a woodland community called the Cherrywood Project. Since then, she has helped to build a range of sustainable structures and buildings; admiring the use of local resources intertwined with sustainable forestry and land use. Her main passion lies in making ash splint baskets, bowl turning and leather work, learnt from the best craftspeople.
Michelle is a member of The Heritage Crafts Association and The Basket Makers Association. She has recently been awarded 3rd place winner of The Worshipful Company of Basket Makers’ 2021 Basketry Competition.
