The full prize includes:
Heron Valley with Barney and Tasha Green featured in the first series of Back to the land, where Kate met them at the start of the project to build a new cider and apple juice production unit in deepest Devon. Hampered by lashing rain and poor apple crops, the journey has been tricky, but now after years of hard graft and eternal optimism the building is up and they will soon move in. In the meantime, they set up a new company ‘Weaver Green’ that takes waste single use plastic bottles and recycles them into beautiful yarn that looks and feels like wool, but is made entirely from recycled plastic.
Weaver Green has salvaged, recycled and reinvented 68 million plastic bottles into beautiful rugs, bags, cushions and blankets in the past 3 years. All their products are hard wearing, machine washable, perfect for dog and pet lovers, stain resistant and won’t get eaten by moths! They feel exactly like natural wool or cotton, but help to tackle the plastic pollution problem head on.
