Apple & Cheddar bread made with Kingstone Ale on Escape to the Farm
29 Apr

Make the delicious beer breads that Kate made for her bread-off with Tori during her visit to Kingstone Brewery.

Old English Cheese, Apple and Kingstone Ale Bread

Ingredients
  • 500g Strong White Bread Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 60g Butter
  • 4 Apples, Peeled, cored and grated
  • 125g Cheddar Cheese grated
  • 1 egg beaten added to 100ml Kingstone Gold Beer
  • Rolled Oats for sprinkling on the top.
Method
  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Spoon into a prepared bread loaf tin.
  • Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 180c/ 350F/ gas 4.
Bread is ready when a metal skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean – or is 70* or over with Food Thermometer.

1503 Dark Ale Bread

Ingredients
  • 400g Strong White Bread Flour
  • 100g Rye Flour
  • 8g Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
  • Optional some mixed seeds/ Ground Coriander/ Coriander Seeds
  • 1503 Ale – added until a soft, moist dough can be formed. Better to be a little on the wet side to yeild a moist loaf.
Method
  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Spoon into a prepared bread loaf tin.
  • Bake for 45 mins in oven 220c/ 425F/ gas mark 7. Until bread is hollow to tap on the bottom/ passed the skewer test or the temperature is above 70 degrees on a kitchen thermometer.
We recommend using Stone Ground Flours for the best flavour – but obviously enjoying a glass of Kingstone Beer while baking/eating it – is imperative!!
