Sheep for Beginners

Come on the Humble by Nature Sheep for Beginners course and learn how to keep sheep.
Spend the day with Humble by Nature farmer and sheep expert Tim Stephens and learn:
The day will start with class room time, learning the essentials and covering what you need to know about starting to keep sheep. Then you’ll move outside for the practical, hands-on experience with our rare and native breed sheep.
Tim has decades of specialist experience of farming sheep. He looks after a large mixed commercial flock on the farm as well as our Rare Breed Jacobs, Badger Face, Dorset Horn and Blue Face Leicesters.
Look at the practical considerations of getting sheep, including: choosing breeds; type and size of land; fencing; and managing your flock.
Learn about your legal obligations and practicalities of keeping sheep: getting a CPH (Country Parish Holding) and flock number; tagging and movement orders; how to move your animals.
Meet the rare breed sheep and commercial flock and find out what breeds might best suit your requirements. Learn how to catch, handle, and understand sheep.
Learn how to spot and treat the most & not so common diseases, including: worms, foot problems, flystrike and orf.
The course will finish with tea and cake and the opportunity to ask any further questions.
Got real hands-on experience, giving me the confidence to handle my own flock. Thanks.
