Dry Stone Walling: 2 Day Fundamentals

Learn how to build a dry stone wall in this two-day dry stone walling course. Help us restore the dry stone walls around the farm and learn this ancient and beautiful art with our experienced teacher and waller.
On this dry stone walling course you will:
To make sure you get plenty of hands-on experience we have strictly limited the number of spaces on this course.
Learn about the principles and techniques of good dry stone walling before starting the hands-on work of stripping and preparing the wall
Once the foundations have been laid you'll start building and packing the wall
You'll learn the hows and whys of placing through bands and continue building and packing the wall
Learn about copestones and finishing, putting the final touches to your piece of wall.
The course will finish with tea and cake and the opportunity to ask any further questions.

Dry Stone Walling: Two Day Fundamentals runs from 10am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and includes a delicious farm lunch on both days.
Most of the weekend will be spent outside building the wall. Please check the weather for NP25 and dress appropriately, including:
– Waterproof and steel toe capped boots
– Heavy weight gardening gloves to protect your hands
– Weather-proof clothes which you don’t mind getting wet or dirty
Dry Stone Walling is physically demanding and not suitable if you are pregnant or have back problems.
