Make a beautiful hand-made green wood chair from hazel grown at Westonbirt Arboretum.
You will learn how to make this simple yet sturdy chair using simply a saw, drill and hammer. No wood working experience is necessary and you will be guided through the whole process.
The hazel poles are harvested using an ancient coppice technique and are completely sustainable. All wood and tools will be provided and you'll take your own unique chair home at the end of the day.
Due to the nature of the green hazel poles and harvesting, this course only runs in June.
We will provide all the tools and hazel rods for you to make your chair.
Please dress warmly but with layers as you will be making your chair in one of our covered barns. You will need to bring gardening gloves and wear sturdy outdoor footwear.
You will leave with your full-size chair at the end of the day, so please make sure you can fit it in your car!
