Tez will explain the theory and techniques for building a clay oven, including: safety and where to site your oven, best wood to use designs.
Start constructing the oven, beginning with building a base.
Help to make the sand form then paddle the soil/clay, learning how to get the correct consistency for the first layer.
Apply the soil/clay mix and the insulating layer to the sand form, discussing the different mixtures we can use.
Apply the finishing layer.
Building is hungry work and you'll enjoy a delicious lunch
After lunch, we will discuss and create a door to the oven. We will then scoop out the sand and finish the inside, while discussing the technical aspects and the structural form.
We will conclude the day with a questions and answers session and a lovely cup of tea.

Wood fired ovens have been in existence for thousands of years and cob or clay ovens have been found all over the world. Whether you're making pizza or bread we know that nothing can beat that authentic wood-fired taste.
This one-day course will teach you all the essentials of how to build a cob or clay oven, including plans, materials and techniques.
We will provide all the building materials and you will have plenty of hands-on experience building a clay oven.
Please bring a pair of wellies for treading in the clay and a pair of washing up or similar gloves if you don't want to handle the clay directly.
