Chilli Experience Day

Course dates are yet to be confirmed but you can register your interest now by submitting our online enquiry form. As soon as dates are released we will be sure to notify you.

Spend a day on the farm learning about growing, eating and cooking with chillies. 

Take a behind the scenes tour of our aquaponics greenhouse with Beca, the Humble by Nature gardener. Learn how the greenhouse works, find out why it is so good for chilli growing and get tips for growing chillies at home. 

Dan of Chilli of the Valley will guide you through designing, planning and making your own chilli sauces: considering flavour profiles, consistency, and appearance. Dan will take you through a tutored tasting session using chillies grown on the farm, from mild to super hot.

Find out which ingredients and flavours go well with which chillies before heading back to the greenhouse to pick your own fresh ingredients ready to make your sauce - enough for around 10 bottles. 

You'll finish the day with a group tasting of all the sauces made and vote for your favourite. The winner will get a goody bag full of Chilli of the Valley and Humble by Nature treats!

 
Beca Beeby course tutor at Humble By Nature

Beca's lifelong love of gardening, growing food & passion for permaculture have led Beca to spread the joys of edible gardening. Beca has run the aquaponics solar greenhouse since it opened in 2014: building up practical experience and knowldege of what works well in an aquaponics system.

Dan has been growing chillies in excess of 16 years, and making sauces commercially since 2012 as Chilli of the Valley.

What to bring and other essential info

This course will involve picking and tasting chillies. You will make appproximately 10 bottles of your own chilli sauce to take home with you.
