Big Day Out: Laughs, great food & old fashioned farm fun!

Friday 8th July 2016

We had a great time at our Big Day Out Festival over the first weekend of July!

It was the perfect setting to celebrate Friday’s victorious Welsh football result. Visitors gathered in the barn to cheer on the team and finished the evening by laughing the night away to a host of world-class comedians.

Miles Jupp, Justin Edwards, Lucy Porter and Ivo Graham provided belly laughs with their stand-up comedy in the Lambing Shed on Friday evening.

Miles said:

"What a fun time. Hooray for the outdoors!"

Chefs Matt Tebbutt, David Jones, Romy Gill, Jane Baxter, Tess Ward, Roger Brook and barbeque experts Hang Fire Smokehouse took to the Esse stage and Freddy Bird was at the fire pit.

Matt Tebbutt, said:

“Fantastic chefs in the cow shed, craft ales in the Sheep Race bar and delicious food in the field. What a brilliant Big Day Out”!

Gareth Malone's Lambing Shed choir surpassed themselves this year with a wonderful song about a butterfly! There were plenty of crafts for visitors young and old to try, story telling in the shed as well as archery, farm olympics and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and much, much more.

Kate Humble said:

“We had a brilliant weekend. I’ve never been surrounded by so many kids with smiling faces and muddy palms and where else would you witness a singing choir winning tug of war?”
